Returning to Joy: When the Pain is Too Deep

Helping Adult Trauma Survivors and Those Who Assist Them

LifeTouch Signature Conference

The world is a fracturing place.  Sometimes we feel stuck in overwhelming emotions and cannot find our way out.  Yet within each of us is a God-given drive to withstand life’s assaults and live in Joy.  Our Signature Conference is a powerful tool for equipping those who minister to people with deep emotional pain.

Day 1: Introduction and first element in recovery

  • Defining recovery
  • Defining joy
  • Introduction of the four elements needed to return to our created and intended joy state:
  1. A Place to Belong
  2. A Place to Give and Receive Life
  3. A Place to Recover from Trauma
  4. A Place to Strive for Maturity
  • A Place to Belong: Why is Belonging to God and others so important? What is the emotional pain of someone who does not feel they belong? What is the core lie they believe? What is the Biblical truth? What is the recovery resource needed?

Day 2: A Place to Give and Receive Life.  Introduction to A Place to Recover from Trauma

  • Defining what it means to give and receive in life giving relationships
  • Why is giving and receiving in balance so important in recovery and in life? What happens in the life of a person if they can only receive? If they can only give?  What is the emotional pain of someone who has these traits out of balance in their lives? What is the core lie? What is the Biblical truth? What does it look like when people are able to give and receive in balance? What is the recovery resource needed to do this?
  • Defining Trauma: Different types of trauma and the Biblical definition of the three parts of our life that are affected by all things that happen to us. Defining the four major emotions we experience. What happens when we get stuck in one of the big four emotions?

Day 3: A Place to Recover from Trauma

  • What are common reactions to trauma?
  • Memory: What is memory and how does our brain remember events? How do we deal from painful memories from our past?
